Blessed Are The Compassionate

The church talks a lot about the cross as a place of punishment, and surely sin was being crushed, but while the punishment of our sin was taken by him, it wasn’t an angry, vengeful God - it was God who is slow to anger and full of compassion who saw us while we were sinners and had mercy on us. We have been saved by a compassionate God. We have been saved by the only compassionate god. We deserve judgement, but we’ve been shown mercy by God in Jesus.

And this God, throughout history, from the Law of Moses, to the Prophets of Israel, to Jesus the Messiah who is the Savior of the World has been revealing His compassion and calling us to walk with him in the way of compassion, the way of mercy. To be a compassionate people. To be a merciful church. Blessed are the merciful.
